Mary M. Tribbett Woody, daughter of Robert and Sophia Tribbett was born in Fulton County, Indiana Jan 30, 1858, departed this life Sept 16, 1910 aged 52 years 7 months 16 days. She was married to Gurney Woody on April 17, 1879, and the union was blessed with four children, three boys and one girl. One boy preceded her to the better land at the age of six years. She is survived by the husband, three children, Earl N. Woody, Darlington, Ind; Mrs. Grace Lee of Bloomington, Ind; and Orville Woody at home; one brother, Frank Tribbett of Three Rivers, Michigan and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She united with the Darlington Christian Church at the age of 18 years under the ministry of Rev. Will Warbington, and afterward transferred her membership to the Center Grove Christian Church where she remained a devoted member until death. Her father was killed at the battle of Chickamauga and she was then left an orphan at eight years of age and was raised by relatives until her marriage at the home of her uncle, J.W. Tribbett. She was a true, devoted Christian woman, a neighbor of unfailing kindness and sympathy, held in the highest esteem by all who know her, and as affectionate, kind, sacrificing mother. In her death the community has lost one of its most valuable members, the church a true Christian, and the family a devoted wife and mother. Her suffering, which was long and almost unbearable, she bore without a murmur, always submitting to the will of the Master without finding a fault and only waiting for the end. Our loss is one that can never be repaid, but is her gain as she rests in blessed sleep with her Savior. -- thanks to Norman Tribbett - greatly appreciated
